The heat is grueling, the mud is deep, the competition is fierce, and the pressure is intense. Over 2,000 riders come to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch every summer chasing dreams of championships, factory contracts, and stardom. Many fail, but a few will rise to the occasion, turn the heads of those lining the fences, and go down in the record books as a champion at the most grueling of all "amateur" motocross events. Coming into his two final motos, Dean Wilson had a grip on two championships. Although he was in the drivers seat, there is no sure thing at Loretta’s. ...read more

Here is a short update from Dean after his final 450A/Pro Sport moto:
"Today in 450A/Pro Sport I got the holeshot and just never looked back.
I ran my fastest time of the week within the first few laps, and clocked in under the two minute mark (ed. Note: laptimes at Loretta Lynn’s under two minutes are rare, only a few in the history of the event have dipped below the 2:00 mark.) It felt good to win. That gave me the overall in the 450A/Pro Sport "class" with a sweep of all three motos."

This is Dean’s update after his final moto of the week:
"Today was my last moto of the week. I was ahead in the championship coming into the moto, and I really wanted to leave with both championships. I was able to get a decent start and push to the front. Once I was up front I put in some hard laps to put away another moto win, and the championship in 250A. I want to thank my team and sponsors who all made this possible, CANIDAE, Motosport, Xtreme Team Green Kawasaki, Monster Energy, Pro Circuit, Thor, Skull Candy."
-Dean Wilson #128

Dean was able to line up at the gate for his 5th and 6th motos of the week, put all the worries and pressures of a national championship out of his head and motor to his two best motos of the week. Dean Wilson won 5 of 6 motos throughout the week in the 250A and 450A/Pro Sport divisions, he never finished off the podium, led over 60% of the laps run in his "classes" , ran the fastest laptime of the week, and brought home championships in two of the most competitive "classes" at the ranch.
Few become champions at Loretta Lynn’s, but only one can be win the AMA Horizon Award. The AMA Horizon Award is the single most prestigious honor in all of "amateur" motocross. It is given to the rider who shows the most promise for a bright future in the "professional" ranks. Past winners include James Stewart, Travis Pastrana, and Ryan Villopoto, that’s definitely some star power to be grouped with.

Next on the agenda for Dean Wilson is his professional debut. Dean will go from the most prestigious race in all of "amateur" motocross, to the Olympics of "professional" motocross at the Motocross of Nations representing team Canada. Representing your country is no small challenge, but after showing his grit, consistency, and speed at Loretta Lynn’s; we’re positive Dean Wilson will represent Canada well at the Motocross of Nations in Italy.
We at Rainbow and the MX vs ATV Reflex team want to congratulate Dean on an amazing week at Loretta Lynn’s, thank him for letting us follow his journey, and wish him the best of luck at the Motocross of Nations and beyond as he tackles the professional motocross and "supercross" ranks.
A special thanks to Dean’s family and his agent Eric Staton from 2A management for helping us get these updates together, it has been an awesome journey following a young man, a warrior through the end of his amateur career.
